FAQ

Goods and Prices

Q
Are your products authentic?
A
Yes, all of our watches are authentic. Because our prices are so affordable, some customers question authenticity, however, please do not worry. We pride ourselves on offering our customers the best prices.
Q
Can I trust the mechanical parts of your second-hand watches?
A
All second-hand watches sold at our store undergo maintenance by one of our technicians, with exception of some watches that are very new. The watches aren't available in our store until they've been polished, had the necessary parts exchanged and are completely repaired. As a result, our customers can be completely confident in their purchases.
Q
What's the difference between automatic winding, manual winding and quartz movement watches?
A
Automatic and manual winding watches principally function by transferring power from their springs to their gears. Automatic winding watches use the everyday motions of the wearer to turn the rotor. For manual winding watches, the wearer winds the watch themselves using the winding knob. Quartz watches are a type of watch that use electricity (batteries) for power.
Q
Are there differences in time measurement between watches?
A
Due to differences between individual watches and their environment, small discrepancies in time ranges exist. Generally, mechanical movement watches are within plus or minus 30 seconds per day—considered an acceptable range. This does not apply to antiques or older models.
Q
Why do the prices change?
A
Watch prices may change day-to-day depending on prices at time of stock purchase and market price. Please keep this in mind.
Q
How is KAME-KICHI so affordable?
A
We reduce our costs by buying large amounts of stock directly from overseas with cash, allowing us to offer you affordable prices. We also have a large customer base, which allows us to purchase high volumes of stock and sell to our customers with tighter profit margins.
Q
Do you give discounts other than duty free?
A
Our prices are inherently cheaper than regular watch stores, and we check other stores' prices daily to provide cheaper rates. For these reasons, we can't offer discounts other than duty free.

Purchases

Q
What payment options do you offer?
A
Payment options include cash (Japanese yen), China UnionPay card, Alipay, WeChat Pay and credit card (VISA/Mastercard/JCB/AMERICAN EXPRESS/Diners). Items remain the same price regardless of payment option.
Q
Can I reserve an item?
A
Customers contacting us from overseas can reserve a watch for three days, including the day the request is made. For customers contacting us after arriving in Japan, we can reserve a watch for the single day the request is made.
If you would like to reserve a watch for a longer period, we require a down payment of 10% of the watch's price. The longest period we can hold a reserved item is two weeks. Payment is made in store, as we do not accept remittance payments from overseas.
Please keep in mind that the down payment can't be refunded if you wish to change or cancel the reserved item or if the two-week reservation period lapses.
Q
For watches that can be restocked, how long until they're available again?
A
Usually, it takes between 2-3 weeks depending on the model. However, occasionally it takes several months. Customers will be contacted once the model has been found.
Cancellations are possible if we cannot acquire the watch for the advertised price or within the expected timeframe. A down payment is required for backorder items. Please contact us for more details.
*Special orders and backorders are restricted to individuals living in Japan.
Q
Can I get the leather bands or straps for watches bought at KAME-KICHI resized?
A
Yes. It takes some time, but you can get bands or straps resized with us free of charge. Please bear in mind that watches that have been resized cannot be returned or exchanged.

Returns and Exchanges

Q
Can I return or exchange a watch after purchase?
A

Watches cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged due to changing your mind.

* Watches that show any signs of use or resizing cannot be returned or exchanged for any reason.

* Watches cannot be returned without prior contact or acceptable reason. Please keep this in mind and consider carefully when making purchases.

* If a watch stops shortly after its purchase, it is possible that the springs need winding. Please check whether the springs are wound sufficiently for automatic and manual winding watches.
(For quartz watches, it is possible that the batteries need replacement.)

Warranties and Maintenance

Q
Do you provide warranties?
A

Please be aware that our warranties do not cover duty free purchases, as those watches will be inherently taken overseas. However, excluding some watches, brand new watches generally come with an international warranty that can be used overseas. Please contact us for details regarding international warranties on unused watches.

We ask that customers organize their own repairs and maintenance of second-hand watches, as they do not come with warranties.

* We ask for your understanding in advance that in some cases the goods can not be insured in China. Please purchase after understanding the contents. (ex IWC, OMEGA, CARTIER)

Q
What advice do you have for maintenance?
A
To extend the life of your watch, maintenance including regular cleaning of the internal mechanics, oiling and replacement of worn parts is necessary. In general, watches should be taken in for maintenance every 4-5 years, or every 2-3 years for antique watches. This differs from brand to brand—we recommend that customers ask upon purchase. Quartz watches need to have their batteries replaced every 2-3 years.

Q

Do you reply to emails from overseas?
